In conformity with the government’s efforts to achieve a target of 30 million tourists for Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020), a joint collaboration had taken place between Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) and Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) in developing the framework that was introduced to the industry in 2019. Prior to the launch, series of workshops were organised involving 56 subject matter experts who provided their insights into critical skills and talents needed for the hotel industry.
An official launch event was organised by HRD Corp together with Ministry of Tourism (MOTAC) and MAH on the 9th December 2019 to introduce this initiative to the industry. The ceremony was officiated by Deputy Minister of Human Resources, YB Dato’ Haji Mahfuz bin Haji Omar, and witnessed by the Secretary –General of Ministry of Human Resources, Dato’ Amir bin Omar, HRD Corp Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dato’ Noor Farida binti Mohd Ariffin, HRD Corp Chief Executive, Elanjelian Venugopal, MAH President, Kamaruddin Baharin, MAH Chief Executive Officer, Yap Lip Seng and Deputy Secretary-General (Promotion) of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, Dato’ Mohmed Razip bin Hasan.
