SEMICONDUCTOR
The drone industry in Malaysia plays a vital role in the country’s economic growth. Recognising the industry’s immense potential, HRD Corp has identified the urgent requirement to develop the IndSF document to support and enhance the drone industry.

INDUSTRIAL SKILLS FRAMEWORK (IndSF)

SEMICONDUCTOR

The semiconductor industry is a cornerstone of Malaysia’s industrial ecosystem, playing a critical role in the global electronics supply chain. With its strategic geographical location, skilled workforce and robust infrastructure, Malaysia has become a hub for semiconductor manufacturing, design and assembly. The industry has attracted significant investments and created thousands of high-value jobs, making it a vital contributor to the country’s GDP and economic growth.

HRD Corp, in collaboration with the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA), has developed the Industrial Skills Framework (IndSF) for the Semiconductor sector to strengthen Malaysia’s position in this competitive global market.

37 job positions

within the Semiconductor Facilities
focus area were identified.

This covers

94 unique technical skills

42 unique soft skills

214 recommended certification programmes

This initiative outlines the skills competencies, career pathways and training requirements to foster a skilled and innovative workforce. The IndSF Semiconductor document supports the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS) by aligning workforce development efforts with Malaysia’s strategic goals, particularly in fostering innovation, advancing semiconductor technology, and driving high-end manufacturing growth.

The development of IndSF Semiconductor aims to address the industry’s evolving demands, including advancements in semiconductor technology, Industry 4.0 adoption and the need for talent capable of driving Malaysia’s growth in crucial areas, including high-end semiconductor manufacturing and chip design. The document aims to provide a structured guide for employers and training providers to align workforce development efforts with industry needs.

Through strategic collaborations and the support of progressive policies, the IndSF Semiconductor framework aspires to build a dynamic talent pipeline that will propel Malaysia’s semiconductor industry to new heights of innovation and global competitiveness.
